One of a kind sculpture, predominantly made of Redwood burl wood.
The inspirantion for this piece came from the wood itself. When I saw this piece covered in bark I was intrigued and imediately saw the potential it had. After careful and delicate cleaning and bark removal, I saw a resemblance of a rock cliff face with an opening and imediately knew what to do; I forged two birds to emerge through the opening in the cliff face. I then undertook some additional wood carving and added the sun as a brass solid sphere.
Other materials used: steel, brass, Fijian monkeypod wood.
The wood is treated with satin polyurethan finish, while the metal has been waxed.
